Growth assessments are newer in Virginia and we want to share with parents what that means for your student. The growth assessments are Computer Adaptive Tests (CAT). This means that the student is administered test questions depending on the student’s responses. Score reports are available to parents after each state assessment. Our teacher-teams are able to use growth assessment data to tailor instruction to individual student needs and monitor the progress of students throughout the year.
Standards of Learning (SOL) tests occur at the end of each class. In grades 3-8 this happens at the end of the school year. In grades 9-12, students take SOL tests at the end of each semester. High school students work with their counselor to determine the necessary SOL tests for graduation requirements.
Each school has a specific testing schedule that can be found on the KGCS Testing Information webpage.
