The King George County Preschool embodies the values and practices that support the right of every child and his or her family, regardless of ability, to participate in a broad range of activities and contexts as full members of families, communities, and society.
The desire for our children and their families is to have a sense of belonging and membership and to create positive social relationships and friendships while providing instruction that enhances each child's ability to reach their full potential.

VIRGINIA PRESCHOOL INITIATIVE & HEAD START

The Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI) distributes state funds to schools and community-based organizations to provide quality preschool programs for at-risk four-year-olds unserved by the federal Head Start program. The purpose of the grant is to reduce disparities among young children upon formal school entry and to reduce or eliminate those risk factors that lead to early academic failure.

Head Start is a federal program that promotes school readiness for children birth to age five. Head Start is a child-centered, family focused,  comprehensive and community-based program providing high quality services to promote academic, physical, social and emotional development for income-eligible children and their families.

We offer both Head Start and Virginia Preschool Initiative to 4 year-olds who qualify. Please apply here using our shared application link for both Head Start and VPI. First time applicants must register online.

PEER MODEL PROGRAM

The Peer Model Program allows preschoolers without disabilities the opportunity to participate in the early childhood class and to learn through the experiences in the classroom.

By participating in classroom activities, the peer model serves as a role model to the other students by demonstrating appropriate play, communication and social skills.

The purpose of the Peer Model Program is to:

➢ develop age appropriate peer relationships

➢ promote community relationships during early childhood

➢ provide a learning environment rich in diversity

➢ educate children with disabilities with typically developing peers

➢ develop, within the learning environment and learning within the community, the understanding

that all children have strengths and make contributions to their world

➢ provide a literature-rich, language-based environment that supports the development of children with varied strengths and abilities.

Applications for the 2024 - 2025 school year available now! Limited spots available for both 3 year olds and 4 year olds.
Please return the completed application to Laurie Wages at [email protected] or drop it by the preschool at  9100 St. Anthony's Rd, across from the little playground.
